BOBST has marked the launch of its BOBST Connect digital platform in Indonesia by inviting customers and partners to discover how its all-in-one solution can enhance flexible packaging productivity.

At the event, entitled ‘From Vision to Reality – BOBST Presents the Next Frontier in the Flexible Packaging Industry’, held on October 8 at the Pullman Hotel, Bobst Jakarta welcomed around 150 guests to explore the capabilities and benefits of BOBST Connect. The fully connected, cloud-based platform brings together data and digital services, with BOBST machine insights and expertise built-in, enabling overview and orchestration of the production process.

Breakout sessions saw BOBST experts join key industry partners, including Miraclon, DIC, BST Group, Siegwerk, UPM, and Dupont, together with Indonesian association Rotokemas to deep dive into flexible packaging applications and industry trends, demonstrate BOBST Connect’s functionality, and share the latest innovations introduced by BOBST. These included technologies, such as oneBARRIER, oneECG, smartGRAVURE, intelligent Metallizing Assistant and more, all designed to enhance packaging sustainability, reduce costs and waste, minimize energy consumption and increase efficiency and productivity.

Diego Accatino, Zone Business Director Flexible Packaging BOBST SEAP, said: “With BOBST Connect now available to customers in Indonesia, converters in the region have greater access than ever to the support and service they need to continue growing and creating stand-out flexible packaging.

“This event was a great success for BOBST, and it was fantastic to see so many key industry players and partners collaborating in breakout sessions and sharing insights into the flexible packaging market. The program was a true demonstration of how the entire sector can work together to achieve its goals and demonstrate its commitment to creating high quality, more sustainable packaging.”

During the event, the BOBST SEAP regional team and Indonesia local team also held a brand owner exclusive lunch with a number of well-known Indonesian brands, including Unicharm, Godrej Consumer Products co., Kapal Api, Mayora Group.

The BOBST team shared its initiatives and solutions that may bring more efficiency and brand consistency to the brands, and expressed great interest to collaborate with key players in the packaging value chain. A key discussion point for attendees was BOBST oneECG, which offers brand owners outstanding print quality and color management, while reducing costs. The discussion on oneBARRIER also attracted strong interest from brand owners who require high barrier functionality for film packaging and paper packaging – a growing market in Southeast Asia.

Cyril Ruiz-Moise, General Manager and Regional Business Director APAC Business Unit Printing and Converting at BOBST, said: “Indonesia is one of the most dynamic economies in South-East Asia with a huge potential for future growth. However, the question is how it will fully empower its local economy to support and fuel that growth, especially with overcoming very tough competition from neighboring industrial powers operating in China and India.

“Within the value chain, the converters have two options: innovate or control their cost competitiveness, and BOBST is offering unique solutions to support both those directions. BOBST Connect and associated smart solutions are opening unique possibilities to manage performance, improve productivity and control or improve processes.”
